Modern English Stops The World And Tours With You
The trek finds the band’s original lineup reuniting for the first time since the mid-1980s. Fans will be pleased to find singer Robbie Grey on stage joined by guitarist Gary McDowell, bassist Mick Conroy and keyboardist Stephen Walker. Long time collaborator and guitarist Steven Walker is also joining the fun as well as drummer Ric Chandler.
The British post-punk band is best known for its 1982 hit “I Melt With You,” as well as other 1980s hits such as “Hands Across the Sea,” “Someone’s Calling” and “Ink and Paper.”
The upcoming tour will feature old favorites as well as new tunes from Modern English’s seventh studio release, Soundtrack. The album was released last month as the follow-up to 1996’s Everything’s Mad.
The first leg of the tour begins July 10 with a performance at Forecastle Festival at Louisville Waterfront Park in Kentucky.
Modern English is also hitting up the Double Door in Chicago (July 11), Showcase Live in Foxboro, Mass. (July 14), Lee’s Palace in Toronto (July 15), Le Poisson Rouge in New York (July 16) and Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas (July 17).
