Yusuf’s Peace Train Derailed?

On the eve of Yusuf Islam’s first visit to Australia in 36 years, politician Peter Kavanagh is demanding that the British singer-songwriter’s visa be revoked until he publicly disavows his 1989 comments supporting a “fatwa” against author Salman Rushdie for alleged blasphemy in his novel “The Satanic Verses.”

“Cat Stevens now says he was joking,” Kavanagh says. “Before he comes into Australia, he should be required to say that he does not support threats against people for the expression of their opinions.”
