Singing It From The Rooftops
The band was the first act to play The O2 when it opened June 2007.
The four-song preview was beamed live into a high definition screen for fans standing outside the venue in Peninsula Square.
At 58 metres above the ground, about the same height as Nelson’s Column, the band members were treated to a bird’s-eye view of the city that will be their home for most of June. Members were helped up there by trained mountaineers.
The venue also re-dedicated the Lyric Wall; a unique giant wall inside the VIP lounge at The O2. The mammoth-sized canvas represents the only venue on earth where a single band’s lyrics are embedded into the building.
“When Jon Bon Jovi opened The O2 with the words, ‘Hello London, welcome to your new home,’ little did he realise that we were already plotting to make it his new home,” said AEG Live Europe chief Rob Hallett.
On May 26 and 27, Bon Jovi played landmark shows when it became the first musical act to perform at The New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey. The O2 shows run to June 26.
