The group formed in Montreal in 1994, released three full-length studio albums and then took a break in 2003.

According to the band’s website, during the past seven years band members have kept busy with “a handful of other bands, and solitary road trips and wanderings, a couple of recording studios built, and a restaurant and 3 live venues also. A film soundtrack and 4 new kids and 3 new dogs. Dead-end jobs. Some farming and vegetable gardens. A small record label. Acupuncture as a livelihood. And three of us just stayed on the road.”

Godspeed you! black emperor will both headline and curate ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas with the fest set for Dec. 3-5 at Butlins Minehead at Somerset, United Kingdom.

Brand new U.K. dates include a gig at Manchester Academy (Dec. 7), Barrowland in Glasgow (Dec. 8), Anson Room in Bristol (Dec. 12) and Troxy in London (Dec. 13).

The band has promised that in addition to ATP and the U.K. shows, it plans to play “a handful of … European shows and then 9 American towns.”

That being said, the group warns that, “until further introspection, WE WILL NOT BE FIELDING ANY OTHER OFFERS. Nor will we be doing any interviews. Inquiries directed to band, record label, or bookers will not be guaranteed a reply. Alls we really want to do is the thing we do, heads down and leaned into the squall.”
