Music Promoter Admits To Defrauding NJ Investor

A music promoter has admitted defrauding a New Jersey investor out of $330,000, claiming the money would be used to promote a series of Mariah Carey concerts in Dubai.

Antywan (ann-TWAHN’) Ross pleaded guilty Thursday to wire fraud in federal court in Trenton.

Ross is a former Atlanta resident who now lives in Berkeley, Calif. He headed the RDA Group, an Atlanta-based firm that claimed to be promoting the concerts.

He told the investor, whose name was not disclosed, that the money would be used for upfront expenses.

The shows never took place, and Ross admitted that he used most of the money for personal expenses.

He could face up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced Oct. 13, although the actual sentence could be much less under federal sentencing guidelines.
