Sometimes it seems as if Franti and Spearhead are intricate parts in a perpetual touring machine. Often on lineups of festivals leaning toward the more improvisational nature of music, Franti’s upcoming album, called The Sound Of Sunshine, drops Sept. 21 through Capitol Records / Boo Boo Wax.

The Sound Of Sunshine tour begins a few days earlier, kicking off with a festival date in Laytonville, Calif., as Franti and Spearhead play the festival Sept. 19. The bus then heads to Los Angeles for a gig at Club Nokia Sept. 22; plays San Diego’s House Of Blues Sept.23 and stops in Tucson for a show at the Rialto Theatre Sept. 24. Other towns include Oklahoma City, Dallas, St. Louis, Little Rock, Minneapolis, Chicago, Nashville, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Albany, Providence, Toronto, Cleveland and Detroit.

Expect more dates to be announced shortly.

“I’m so excited to be hitting the road again this fall and sharing our new music live with our fans,” Franti said. “To play music that makes people feel energized and passionate about life in these stressful times is a privilege that I’m grateful to have. We’ve been doing a lot of acoustic street performances these days outside the venues we’ve been playing in and I look forward to seeing longtime fans again and meeting new ones in every city we play in.”
