Grey & Mofro are touring in support of their new CD, Georgia Warhorse, scheduled to drop Aug. 24. Featuring guest appearances by artists such as Derek Trucks and the Maytals’ Toots Hibbert, the album’s recording sessions were somewhat of a “Back To The Future” experience with the group using vintage and analog gear to nail down the tracks for prosperity.

Plus, having Hibbert on the album was a dream come true for Grey, who credits the musician as his greatest living influence.

“Well, him and Otis Redding,” Grey said. “And his songwriting! Nobody ever talks like that. He is my favorite songwriter”

After returning from Japan and Fuji Rocks, Grey & Mofro play a Thursday At The Square gig in Buffalo, N.Y., Aug. 5; stop in Kitchener for the town’s blues festival Aug. 7 and then head to Colorado for an appearance at eTown Aug. 12. Other locales include Duluth, Minn., Live Oak, Fla., Boise, Seattle, Phoenix, Memphis, Orlando, Denver, Tallahassee, Salt Lake City and San Francisco before wrapping things up at the Ritz in Tampa Oct. 29.
