We’ve always complained about the West Coast getting the short end of the stick when it comes to televised award shows. With the exception of the Academy Awards and the various MTV award programs, just about every awards telecast arrives here on California’s beautiful Fresno coast three hours after the fact, beaming into East Coast homes live but withheld from West Coast audiences for 180 minutes in order not to interrupt the delicate balance of prime time schedules.

But the Teen Choice Awards is different. Held last night at the Gibson Amphitheater At Universal CityWalk in Universal City, Calif., the program doesn’t air on Fox until tonight at 8 p.m. That’s a 24 hour delay.

And, as if to add further insult to West Coast viewers, the show will be delayed an additional three hours before it beams into our homes.

Anyway…

If you watch Teen Choice Awards for, well, the awards, you probably already know that vampires ruled last night, with “The Twilight Saga” picking up 12 wins while “The Vampire Diaries” won seven of the surfboard-shaped honors. So there’s no reason to watch.

No reason, that is, except for performances by folks like host Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, Travie McCoy, Bruno Mars and Sean “Diddy” Combs. We think you’ll enjoy these fine, fine photos and we hope they’ll hold you over until you see the telecast tonight.
