It has been almost a year since West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for winning best female video, saying Beyoncé should have won for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” because it was “one of the best videos of all time.”

But you can’t interrupt America’s reigning sweetheart and get away with it. It seemed as if the entire world came down on West, turning the incident into the No. 1 contender for outrage of the year. To make matters worse, the announcement of what was supposed to be a co-headline tour featuring West with Lady Gaga was issued the very next day, keeping West’s name above the fold on blogs and newspapers for the rest of the week.

The plug was eventually pulled on the tour, and West declared he was going to lay low for awhile.

But he returns to the VMAs when the MTV extravaganza airs live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Sept. 12. Once again Swift is nominated for best female video – this time for her song “Fifteen” – competing against videos by Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Perry with Snoop Dogg and the collaboration between Lady Gaga and, you guessed it, Beyoncé, on “Video Phone (Extended Remix).”

Hmmm… sounds like MTV is hoping lightning will strike twice. For more info, click here for the MTV website.
