But then, it’s not like the band has spent nearly a decade and a half struggling from terminal writer’s block. The band’s last studio effort, Predator, was released in 1996, one year before the band took an unofficial break.

There have been more than a few lineup changes in Accept over the years. Today’s lineup features Wolf Hoffmann on guitar along with bassist Peter Baltes, guitarist Herman Frank and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann. Handling vocals is former TT Quick singer Mark Tornillo.

The new album, Blood On The Nations, arrives in the U.S. Sept. 14 on the Nuclear Blast imprint. Helmed by Brit producer / Sabbat guitarist Andy Sneap, the album features songs guaranteed to scare your neighbors (as any good metal album must), including “The Abyss,” “Teutonic Terror,” “Pandemic,” and “Shades Of Death” as well as the title track.

Serving up metal the way you like it – loud, jarring and in your face – Accept begins its fall journey at the ProgPower USA at Atlanta’s Center Stage Sept. 9. Later in the month the band starts the every-night-a-different-town routine with a show in Poughkeepsie at The Chance Sept. 23; Baltimore at Ram’s Head Live Sept. 24 and Sayreville, N.J., at The Starland Ballroom Sept. 25.

Other stops include New York, Foxboro, Mass., Mt. Clemens, Mich., St. Charles, Ill., Dallas and Houston. Plus, there’s the obligatory caveat stating “more shows to be announced.”

“Something amazing has happened,” guitarist Hoffmann said. “We seem to have been transformed from one world into another … these new songs simply bursted out of a vault that has been locked up for too long! We’re not sure where Blood Of The Nations and all this new excitement will ultimately take us; we only know one thing – we never had it this good!”
