Arena Project Chief Investigated

Australia’s Corruption and Crime Commission will investigate revelations that the bureaucrat in charge of the 14,000-capacity Perth Arena development had his house built by its developer BGC, which also employed his daughter.

Housing Minister Bill Marmion agreed that Steven Luce played no part in selecting BGC in 2007 but it needs to ascertain any conflict of interest.

Two firms working on Luce’s house said they sent their bills to BGC.

The Arena is two years behind schedule and its budget has blown out from $160 million to $480 million.
