Timbaland Wins Costs

In the first round of a court case between Timbaland and Australian promoter Showtime Touring Group, the NSW Supreme Court determined that Showtime has to pay the hip-hop performer/producer’s legal costs.

Showtime filed a $1 million breach of contract suit after Timbaland canceled his 2008 tour at the last minute.

Timbaland counter-sued, claiming he had not been paid the $1.26 million fee for five shows and that the promoter arranged sponsorships and commercial tie-ins without his permission. Showtime argues it paid him half upfront.
