New Name For Arco Arena

Arco Arena in Sacramento, which has had the same name since it was built 22 years ago, will have a new moniker come February.

The oil company that’s been associated with the arena’s home-court Sacramento Kings for 24 years will not be renewing its naming rights, but no predecessor has been announced.

The announcement by Maloof Sports and Entertainment, which owns the arena and the Kings, took place the same time the team announced variable-price ticketing for single games. Price depends on the draw of the visiting team.

Although the Sacramento Bee applauded the decision, it chastised the team for taking such a long time to realize the benefits of going variable.
