Tennessee Fair To Bonnaroo Site?

New Era Farms, home to the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, in Manchester, Tenn., is reportedly a contender to be the future home of the Tennessee State Fair.

The fair has been held at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds for about a century but Nashville Mayor Karl Dean is said to be interested in redeveloping the fairgrounds with a $2 million park. Fair officials are scouting location possibilities.

“This is very much still a possibility,” Bonnaroo spokesman Jeff Cuellar of AC Entertainment told the Manchester Times. “It is my understanding that they are going to issue an RFP sometime soon and then we will have a chance to answer.” Bonnaroo’s promoters own the festival grounds.

Among the details to work out if the fair moves to New Era Farms would be a compromise on event dates. The Coffee County Fair in Manchester and the Tennessee State Fair both take place in September.
