A source told the celebrity website, “Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side.”

Earlier this week the New York Post ran an item quoting an unidentified source saying Giraldo, a regular on Comedy Central roasts and Howard Stern’s radio program, had apparently OD’d on prescription pills and spent Sept. 26 “fighting for his life,” and that paramedics allegedly had to resuscitate the unconscious comedian the evening of Sept. 25 after a “wild party” in his room at the Hilton East Brunswick in New Jersey.

The management company representing the comedian later confirmed Giraldo had experienced an “accidental overdose” and was hospitalized in critical condition.
