Trashcan Sinatras Unplug For October Outing
This isn’t the first tour this year for the Scottish group that began life more than 20 years ago as a cover band playing other performers’ hits. Trashcan Sinatras embarked on a road trip in June, playing nightclubs coast-to-coast during the summer.
The acoustic tour begins with the boys hooking up with another popular group from Scotland – Belle & Sebastian – at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall Oct. 20. Trashcan Sinatras then head down the coast, playing San Francisco’s Swedish American Hall Oct. 23 and Santa Monica at McCabe’s Oct. 24.
Then it’s a trip across the desert to Arizona, playing Scottsdale’s Martini Ranch Oct. 26 and Tucson’s Plush Oct. 27 before returning to California for a gig in San Diego at AMSD Concerts Hall.
“We had been talking about touring the USA this fall when this opportunity to play with Belle & Sebastian came up, so we decided to organize a little acoustic tour at the same time,” Trashcan Sinatras guitarist John Douglas said. “We played with B&S at a festival in Glasgow a few years ago and it was a great time, so we’re looking forward to it.”
Earlier this year, Trashcan Sinatras released its fifth studio album, In The Music, consisting of 10 new recordings and eight previously unreleased acoustic tracks recorded live in Glasgow last year. While the live recordings were originally meant as bonus material, the group is now planning to release a live album called Brel.
