To enter the once in a lifetime contest, fans simply have to buy the band’s new album and share their thoughts about love.

Each copy of Belle & Sebastian Write About Love, which is set for release Oct. 12 in North America, will include a unique code inside the CD or LP.

After entering the code through Matador Records’ website, fans will then be asked to write 300 words about love.

According to the label’s blog, fans are invited to write pretty much anything about the subject. “Why you love. Who you love. What you love. Where you love. Anything. Just write about love.”

The band will choose the winner. Singer Stuart Murdoch will write a song about the fan after flying out to the person’s town and hanging out with them for an afternoon. The tune will then be released on a special 7” next year.

The contest is open exclusively to U.S. residents.

Belle & Sebastian play José Cuervo Salón in Mexico City on Thursday and Friday, followed by an Oct. 9 gig at Teatro Estudio Cavaret in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The band then heads north with shows lined up in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and Portland, Ore. In December the band tours the United Kingdom along with a one-off gig in Ireland.
