Coldplay To Sneak A Couple Of Shows

Coldplay has a deal for you. You can buy tickets to one of the band’s December gigs in the U.K. and they’ll tell you where the shows are… later.

The hidden gigs are scheduled to take place Dec. 19 in Liverpool and Dec. 20 in Newcastle. However, tickets sold for the two concerts will not include the venues. Where the band is playing on those two dates won’t be disclosed until about 24 hours before show time.

What’s up? The two shows, to take place in intimate venues seating approximately 1,000 people, are to benefit Crisis, a U.K. charity for single homeless people. According to a statement on the band’s website, not announcing each venue until the day before the gig “gives gig-goers a small taste of the uncertainty faced by the thousands of homeless people who do not know where they will spend the night.”

Tickets go on sale Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. U.K. time and are priced at £50 ($79.90). But before you check your credit card balance and look for the cheapest flight to Jolly Old England, there’s a few conditions you need to know about.

There will be some tickets set aside for Coldplay.com users, no matter where in the world those fans reside. You see, location is everything in this particular onsale and aside from Coldplay.com users, the only fans allowed to buy tickets will be those residing in or near the towns the band is playing.

How are they going to check? Simply by looking at the billing addresses for credit and debit card purchases. So if you don’t live in or near Liverpool or Newcastle now, you still have a few weeks to move and change those billing addresses on your plastic.

There will also be an auction of 200 general admission tickets for fans no matter where they live as well as 30 meet-and-greet tickets auctioned for each show promising the best seats in the house plus early entry, champagne reception photo op, VIP bar.
