SCI’s Latest Journey To The Past

Today marks the launch of the first installment in the String Cheese Incident’s new live archive series as the band flashes back to a memorable 2000 gig.

The archive, dubbed “Rhythm Of The Road,” begins life today with Volume 1, Incident In Atlanta – 11.17.00, an audio documentation of the band’s memorable concert at The Tabernacle. With special guest Tony Furtado jamming with the band on several tracks, the recording has been remastered from the original 24-bit multi-track master tapes and is available on CD as well as via downloads, including MP3, FLAC, and for the first time in the band’s history, 24-bit FLAC.

Incident In Atlanta is available in stores, through SCI Merchandise and at LiveCheese.com.

The year 2000 was a touring-palooza for SCI as the band began headlining larger venues, including New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre, The Warfield in San Francisco and Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Along with String Cheese classics, the Tabernacle show featured the band and Furtado taking a few cracks at songs originally made famous by Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, John Coltrane and Peter Rowan, making for a very unique evening.

Here’s the set list:

Set 1: “Smile,” “Joyful Sound,” “Orange Blossom Special,” “Barstool,” “Pygmy Pony,” “Missing Me,” “Ramble On”

Set 2: “Outside And Inside,” “Impressions,” “Glory Chords Jam,” “Midnight Moonlight,” “This Must Be The Place (Naïve Melody),” “Miss Brown’s Teahouse,” “Wake Up,” “Black Clouds”

While no dates are currently on the books, today’s announcement includes a tease about the band announcing 2011 plans. Meanwhile, Incident In Atlanta – 11.17.00 is a worthy memory of how the band gained its reputation as a primo live act.
