Guitarist Rod Jones is the owner of the fractured clavicle, saying an “unfortunate accident” was the root of this particular medical problem.

Fans probably see today’s announcement as a case of the other shoe dropping. Idlewild and Jones originally announced the collarbone mishap in late October, saying at that time only West Coast dates were canceled and he was hoping to mend in time to play the East Coast gigs scheduled to begin during the fourth week of November.

But the entire tour is now off the books. For those of you keeping score at home, the following gigs are no longer meant to be:

Nov. 16-17, Los Angeles @ The Echo
Nov. 18, San Francisco @ The Independent
Nov. 20, Seattle @ Crocodile Café
Nov. 22-23, New York @ Bowery Ballroom
Nov. 24, Cambridge, Mass., @ Middle East Downstairs
Nov. 26, Chicago @ Lincoln Hall

Sez Jones:

“I know this is a disappointment to some of you who have been patiently waiting for five years to see us there and it is a feeling we share with you as a band. Again I’d like to extend my sincere and heartfelt apologies and hope to see you some time in the near future.”
