Striking Detroit Symphony Members To Play Concerts
Striking members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra plan to return to the stage for holiday concerts in three Detroit suburbs.
A statement released by musicians Wednesday said December performances by striking musicians will include appearances at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills, St. Anne Catholic Community in Warren, and Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills.
Musicians have been on the picket line since Oct. 4. Management of the financially struggling orchestra implemented a 33 percent base pay cut in the first year of the new contract.
Musicians had offered a 22 percent reduction.
Both sides held informal discussions last week. Musicians reported no progress.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra canceled its concerts through Nov. 28 because of the ongoing strike.
