Rams Head Ventures Into Facebook Tix

Baltimore’s Rams Head Live! is blazing a trail in ticketing with the announcement the club has begun selling tickets to shows via Facebook.

The news puts the venue ahead of ticketing companies including Ticketmaster, TicketWeb andTicketfly, and promoters including Live Nation, AEG and Goldenvoice.

It seems it’s not enough to merely have a presence on social networking sites these days. While the aforementioned entities often direct fans away from Facebook to company websites to score tickets, Rams Head Live! now offers an application that allows users to purchase tickets from within the site through a tab on the venue’s page.

“The purchasing aspect is seamless – you never have to leave Facebook to buy your tickets,” Rams Head Group VP Erin McNaboe said in a statement.

The application, developed by VisionOne, seems to be taking cues from an idea Facebook brass have been pushing for some time – the site as a one-stop communications epicenter where a majority of online interactions take place. Since fans often discover shows on Facebook, allowing them to buy tickets there as well simply makes sense.

“The ability to conveniently purchase tickets at the point of discovery is incredibly convenient for our fans, and the ability to then have customers post it on their wall so that their friends and other music fans can see that they’re going to the concert will help create awareness for each show,” Rams Head talent buyer Mark Mangold explained.

Add to that the ability for Rams Head to access the data gold that includes Facebook users’ walls, friends and networks and it’s likely the club will have the company of other venues and promoters in the near future.

Rams Head Group also operates the nearby Pier Six Pavilion and the Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis.
