MySpace For Sale?

MySpace may have had a recent overhaul but that doesn’t mean it’s the new darling of owner News Corp.

The chief operating officer of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire recently told the Reuters Global Media Summit that News Corp. is open to all options for the once-mighty social network, including a sale.

“If there’s something there that makes sense you ought to think about it,” Chase Carey said, according to The Wrap.

MySpace’s losses where “not acceptable or sustainable,” he said, and if things don’t turn around, sale or closure would be options.

News Corp., which purchased MySpace in 2005 for $580 million, has a digital media segment that has reported a $156 million operating loss during the last quarter.

Carey did say he was happy with the site’s redesign, which has an obvious Facebook flair.
