Social Distortion’s First Time

Since its 1978 founding, Social Distortion has endured drug problems, break ups and run-ins with the law. However, throughout its 32-year history the band has never performed on television. But that’s going to change come Dec. 6.

Sure, the band’s videos have appeared on the tube, but Mike Ness & Company have never performed on any of the late night talkers. When you consider all the shows that have aired over the years, from Carson to Letterman to Leno to Conan, the band’s absence from TV land seems even more remarkable.

But that particular piece of Social D trivia gets an update Monday, Dec. 6 when the band appears on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The timing works out perfectly for the band, coming only a few days before Social Distortion plays the annual Southern California at Universal City’s Gibson Amphitheatre At Univ. CityWalk, and just a few weeks before it launches its first 2011 tour in Las Vegas at House Of Blues Jan. 20-21 followed by a run through West Coast towns such as Bakersfield, Hollywood, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland as well as the raisin capital of the known universe – Fresno, U.S.A.
