First 2011 Bamboozle Details Emerge
What’s new at Bamboozle? The “Temple Of Boozle” will feature some of the nation’s biggest DJs, like Super Mash Bros. and Wait What spinning for you while crowd-pleasing returning events include the break dancing competition dubbed, The B-Boy Battle, and the unsigned band challenged known as The Break Contest.
Earlier this year, founder John D’Esposito talked with Pollstar about the annual festival, saying that artist development and the ability to pick tomorrow’s stars today are major factors when planning Bamboozle.
“A lot of people don’t understand that I build my festivals on artist development,” D’Esposito said. “We try to develop from within. We have to import, obviously, for stature, numbers, statistics and the ‘wow’ factor. But it’s really built on a mechanism that was developed within that we can monitor through merchandise sales and new technology with the Web. And through our partnership with the company that does our Web site, we’re able to track bands and their growth and fan base a lot easier these days.
“That’s where I think Bamboozle never got the credit it deserved. All the cool people, like the VIPs, the record label execs, they all go to Coachella but the A&R kids come to Bamboozle. And that’s what means the most to me.”
In addition to the performers already mentioned, expect Circa Survive, Waka Flocka Flame, Streetlight Manifesto and RX Bandits to appear. Of course, that lineup will expand tremendously between now and the end of April.
Meanwhile, a special early bird three-day ticket package is available. For more info, click here for TheBamboozle.com.
