But that was the result of an Internet poll launched by Choose Suffolk, which asked locals to submit their favorite photos of the area to a “Suffolk Icons”contest designed to promote tourism. According to the Telegraph, local resident and Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth led the voting with 13,025 votes, far outdistancing the 2,055 nods given to a swimming pool described to be in “near derelict” condition.

Another musician who lives in the area, Brian Eno, received 1,219 votes.

Evidently the Choose Suffolk folks ignored the people’s choice and instead issued a short list of 20 images to vote for, including the St. Edmundsbury Cathedral, the Sutton Hoo burial site and the Woodbridge Tide Mill.

Guess famed newscaster Kent Brockman was right when he told his viewers: “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: democracy simply doesn’t work.”
