New Dates for KISS and Garth

No, not together, but it’s not every day we have an opportunity to mention KISS and Garth Brooks in the same headline.

The new dates for Brooks are for the country star’s residency at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas – March 25-26, April 8-9, June 3-4, June 24-25 and July 22-23.

Brooks’ Vegas residency began in December 2009 – eight years after he announced his “retirement.”

But you can’t keep a great artist down, and Brooks was lured out of his home to do extra-special one-offs, like performing at President Obama’s inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial as well as headlining five concerts in two days to raise money to prevent fire catastrophes in California. More recently the Garth-man played nine concerts in Nashville to aid Tennessee flood-relief efforts.

Tickets for the newly announced Wynn Las Vegas dates go on sale Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. For more information, click here for the Encore Theatre / Wynn Las Vegas website.

We only have one date for KISS but it’s definitely an eye-catcher as the band saddles up and plays a rodeo in March.

That’s right. One of rock’s most unique bands will play a genuine bronco-busting, calf-roping, bull-riding rodeo when the boys take the stage at Reliant Stadium March 15 as one of the big-name headliners appearing during RodeoHouston.

While entertainment at RodeoHouston isn’t limited to country acts, there’s no denying that KISS definitely stands out on the rodeo’s music lineup. Although the rodeo will also present Janet Jackson and Kid Rock, most of the performers booked this year are country music power players like Sugarland (March 3), Tim McGraw (March 7), Keith Urban (March 8), Martina McBride (March 9) and Lady Antebellum (March 11). To see KISS mixed in with these country favorites has to be one of the more surreal concert listings to emerge so far this year.
