Mötley Crüe, LN Sued For Infringement
Mötley Crüe and Live Nation are being sued for copyright infringement regarding an image used on band merch sold online.
Ron Toma filed suit in Illinois Northern District Court, claiming he owns the copyright to the famous “belt buckle” photo used for Mötley Crüe’s Too Fast For Love album released in 1981 and taken by photographer Michael Pinter. Now it’s used on sweatshirts for sale on the band’s website.
Toma claims the parties stole the image and are using it without his consent. He wants to put a stop to that and is seeking undetermined monetary damages and profits gained from the image’s use, according to court papers.
Also named in the suit are Live Nation’s Signatures Network and Universal Music Group.
