AEG Ogden To Co-Host Fundraiser

Australia-based venue operator AEG Ogden and Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring will co-host a major fundraising concert in Brisbane following the devastating floods in the region, AEG Ogden chairman/CEO Harvey Lister says.

The date has not been confirmed, but it will take place at one of Ogden’s venues, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, which was not affected by the flooding. However, its two other Qld. venues were.

The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre’s carpark, administration area and kitchen loading docks were waterlogged. At Suncorp Stadium, the playing field was covered by 2-meter-deep water, the dressing rooms and Control Room were flooded while a small explosion to an electrical transformer at the height of the floods added to the challenges. Staff from these venues used BEC facilities.

“Our sister venues managed by AEG have also shared with us some of their experiences from hurricanes and other natural disasters and this has provided valuable reinforcement for venue recovery and business continuity plans,” Lister said. “We look forward to being back in business in the flood-affected venues in a very short period of time.”

In Malaysia, where AEG Ogden manages the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the GM there offered the venue to the Australian Embassy and the Malaysia Australia Business Council for a function on Australia Day (Jan. 26) to raise funds for the Queensland flood appeal.
