Mizner’s Open Seating Option

Boca Raton, Fla., city officials will reportedly try out some new policies regarding open median seating across from the newly upgraded Mizner Park Amphitheatre in spring.

The Community Redevelopment Agency will use Furthur’s April 6 concert to test out barricading the median and allowing patrons lawn chair access for $10 during concerts.

Mizner’s vendor would sell food and drinks in that area split profits between the city and promoters, Chrissy Biagiotti, the city’s cultural facilities manager, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

However, it remains to be seen whether the plan will work.

“If there’s 500 people sitting in the [park] across the street and accessing our content for free, it has to be construed as lost revenue to AEG Live or any other presenter who leases the facility from the City of Boca Raton,” AEG Live’s Scott Gartner told the paper.

Gartner added that the new seating option may not be needed for sold-out concerts, where the promoters made a profit.

The city will evaluate now the new seating option is working case-by-case, the paper said.
