Scammer Sentenced

A con man who once was taken to court by Bruce Springsteen was sentenced Feb. 15 in a Los Angeles court to 13 years in a federal prison on charges of bilking investors out of millions in a Ponzi-type scheme.

Judge S. James Otero also ordered Robert Tringham to pay $8 million restitution in regard to his conviction on 10 fraud and tax counts.

Tringham will also be deported back to England once he is released.

Springsteen sued the scam artist in 1998 for illegally releasing two of The Boss’ albums.

The two-year court battled reportedly ended with a judge awarding Springsteen $3 million in damages.
