Nils Lofgren’s U.K. Summer Trip
What can you possibly say about someone who has been an integral part of the rock scene for more than 40 years that hasn’t been mentioned before? Launched his band Grin in 1969? Check. Played with Neil Young when he was only 17? Check. Joined Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in 1984? Check. Was on the short list during the mid 1970s to replace Mick Taylor in the Rolling Stones? Well, we’re not so sure if that’s a fact or an urban legend, but it makes for a good story.
Presented by CMP Entertainment, the June U.K. outing is billed as “Nils Lofgren Acoustic Duo” with the “duo” part of the act provided by multi-instrumentalist Greg Varlotta who joins Lofgren for an unplugged set.
The adventure begins June 1 in Southampton at The Brook. Other stops include London’s Cadogan Hall June 2; Cardiff at St. David’s Hall June 4: Wolverhampton at Robin 2 June 7; Sheffield City Hall June 9; York’s Barbican June 19; and Northampton at Derngate Theatre June 15. Last stop on the run is a second London show at Cadogan Hall scheduled for June 18.
