New Fest In Ski Resort
Bulgaria is to have a new festival at the southwestern ski resort of Bansko, close to the border with Greece.
It’s called Elevation Festival and is being started by Marc Eliot, a British business consultant who’s lived in Bulgaria for six years. He’s working with Boris Milanov of Bulgarian Talent Agency and Jurgen Langer of Soulshine.
Already obtaining permission from local mayor Krassimir Gerchev, they plan to have a 40,000-capacity event that will offer an alternative to the country’s plethora of heavy rock fests.
“People come from Greece, Macedonia and other neighbouring countries to ski in the Razlog Valley and so Bansko is already a well-known resort,” Eliot told Pollstar.
During the last couple of years the town has benefited from massive investment, which included the building of a new resort area, luxury hotels and holiday apartments.
International acts already confirmed for Elevation June 24-25, over a month after the ski season closes, include 30 Seconds To Mars and Gentleman.
Eliot is hoping to announce more international acts within a month.
