Roskilde Focuses On Homeless

Roskilde Festival’s latest charity initiative involves persuading fans to take to the street dressed as beggars to highlight the problems of the poor and homeless.

The Danish festival often raises money for local charities and aid organisations. This time it’ll be Projekt Udenfor (“Project Outside”), which work with the homeless on the street while it serves hot, nourishing meals.

It also gives medical help to those on the streets and veterinary help to their animals.

On March 24 the “People Of The Street” campaign was scheduled to kick off in six cities across Denmark, Norway, England and Germany.

It marks the ramping up of Roskilde Festival’s humanitarian campaign statement regarding poverty and inequality and its efforts to start a public debate on the matter.

This year’s Roskilde Festival is June 30 to July 3. The lineup includes Kings Of Leon, Iron Maiden, Beatsteaks, Mastodon and PJ Harvey.
