Faithfull Receives Cultural Award

Veteran songstress Marianne Faithfull has been made a Commandeur of L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, one of the France’ top cultural awards.

The honour was bestowed on her by French minister of culture and communication Frédéric Mitterrand at Le Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris March 22. Faithfull was performing a concert at the venue.

The award recognises significant contributions to the enrichment of the French cultural heritage.

Faithfull, who divides her time between Paris and Ireland when not on tour, joins an elite group of recipients that includes Sir Michael Caine, Patti Smith and Marcel Marceau.
