will take place in Watkins Glen, N.Y., at Watkins Glen International. July 1-3, making it the very first Phish festival scheduled for a Fourth of July weekend. It will also be the first time Watkins Glen has hosted a major music festival since 1973’s Summer Jam.

Phish began its series of multi-day festivals in 1996 with the “Clifford Ball.” Past events also include “The Great Went” in 1997, 1998’s “Lemonwheel” and “Conventry” in 2004. The most recent Phish festival was last year’s “Festival 8” at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., the same location that hosts annual festivals and .

As with the band’s previous festivals, “Super Ball IX” will include camping, attractions, art installations and plenty of performances by Phish.

Tickets go on sale April 4 at noon EDT with onsite camping included in the price. Ticket purchasers will also receive a free MP3 download of each of the band’s “Super Ball IX” sets from livephish.com. Expect the downloads to become available almost as soon as the band exits the stage.
