Dylan In Taiwan

Bob Dylan opened his hotly anticipated Asian tour on Apr. 3 with a show in Taiwan at the Taipei Arena.

Despite the huge amount of publicity the tour has received and the fact that Dylan has never performed in Taiwan before, reportedly only 70 percent of the arena’s 11,000 seats were filled.

However, the audience contained many local celebrities, including Taiwanese rockers Wu Bai and Faith Yang, verteran pop singer Kimbo Hu, and music producer Jonathan Lee.

Hu, considered the father of Taiwanese modern folk music, told Focus Taiwan, “When I left my beautiful hometown at a young age and was faced with the great changes of society, I looked for answers and power in the lyrics of Bob Dylan.”
