Hot Town In Kansas

An “irate and unpredictably hostile” crowd of several hundred threatened police and the staff of Centro Nightclub in Lawrence, Kan., after a performer failed to show up.

Police arrested four patrons early April 9 after reggaeton act Zion Y Lennox canceled but the club refused the $25 refund, police told the Eagle Tribune newspaper.

“All hell broke loose,” Lawrence Police Chief John Romero told the paper. “People were demanding money. Some of them were intoxicated, which exacerbated the whole situation.”

Officers estimated the crowd at between 400 and 500 people. One patron was charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
