Prince’s Price Test

Tickets for the first three dates of Prince’s 21-night residency in Los Angeles have gone on sale and the Purple One appears to be trying out an innovative pricing structure for his shows at The Forum.

Live Nation announced in a statement April 11 that “Prince has declared that roughly 85% of all tickets will be available at $25, inclusive of all service fees.”

An information box on the Ticketmaster website states tickets starting at $25 are available in the loge, floor, riser and colonade seating sections of the venue. However, it is unclear exactly how many of the cheap seats are available in each section for the April 14 and April 21-22 concerts.

What is clear is that all those economical tickets will be offset by several VIP and premium seat packages available for fans who don’t mind paying extra to see Prince up close and personal.

Non-VIP floor and loge seats can be scored for $179 (plus a $26 fee) and platinum seats are being offered between $139 to $439 for the dates. Welcome 2 America VIP packages run $526 each (plus fees) and include premium seats, commemorative merchandise and preshow VIP lounge access.

But for those who live and breathe Prince, Purple Circle VIP packages featuring tables near the stage, commemorative merch and preshow VIP lounge access are available for $755 (plus fees).

Despite the price tiers available through TM, an examination of several secondary sites at press time found seats for sale ranging from just above face value to $2,000 each.
