Tamworth Goes Crazy For Urban

Australia’s country music capital, Tamworth, turned the city into a mini-festival for Keith Urban’s triumphant return.

To coincide with his April 12 show the city’s Peel Street projected his images onto buildings, local acts and buskers performed on the street, radio station FM-92.9 did a live broadcast, while mayor Col Murray cut a special Urban cake and distributed it to the locals.

On his current run of dates, Urban nodded to his Australian roots.

He performed Cold Chisel’s “Rising Sun,” later paying tribute to its drummer Steve Prestwich with a stirring acoustic version of the Prestwich-penned “Flame Trees.”
