Sambora Takes A Break

Gossip sites are reporting that Richie Sambora is checking into rehab. Although Bon Jovi isn’t confirming the rumors, the band has released a statement saying that the guitarist will be absent from upcoming shows.

According to RadarOnline.com, Sambora is “checking into a facility for exhaustion and to regain his sobriety.” The site quoted a source saying that the guitarist had been “drinking too much,” and noted that he previously checked in to the Cirque Lodge Drug Rehab Center in Sundance, Utah in 2007.

Here’s what Bon Jovi had to say in response to the media reports and questions about the band’s upcoming tour dates:

“Our support for Richie is absolute. He is, and will remain, a member of Bon Jovi. Although he will be absent from upcoming shows for the time being, we very much look forward to his healthy return. In the meantime, we will keep our commitment to our fans and continue our tour.”

A representative for Bon Jovi told Pollstar that “out of respect for Richie, the band will not comment further.”

Bon Jovi’s next show is an April 30 set at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. U.S. and Canadian dates are booked through May 22. A European tour is scheduled for June 8 through July 31.
