Rx Bandits Farewell Tour
On April 12 the four-piece ska punk band revealed in a statement posted to its website that the group planned to break up following its summer tour.
“We would like to express our love and appreciation for all that you’ve done for us and how much a part of our growth you have been. We have all mutually decided that this summer will be our last tour. We love each other and love you all and hope to see you at the shows.”
That statement was followed by two April 14 posts by drummer Christopher Tsagakis and guitarist/keyboardist Steve Choi.
“Rx Bandits are not DEAD, we are all ALIVE and we all will continue making music and art in many different forms,” Tsagakis said. “Those of you who know our music and know what we’re about, know that we live, breathe, eat, sleep, and dream MUSIC. This is not the end of our musical endeavors by a long shot. … Lets celebrate this summer everything RXB stands for – Peace, creativity, love and music.”
Rx Bandits was formed in 1995 and put out six full-length studio albums including 2009’s Mandala.
After playing OMBAC Coming Out Party in San Diego May 14, the farewell tour begins June 26 at The Marquee in Tempe, Ariz. Dates are on the books through an Aug. 7 show at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco.
