Cedar Rapids Rapidly Redeveloping

The Five Seasons Ballroom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was torn down April 27 as the first step toward building a $75 million convention center complex.

Three other buildings will also be torn down to make way for the project that includes renovations to the 10,000-capacity U.S. Cellular Center managed by VenuWorks and the former Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, according to the convention complex website.

The project, which will add a new exhibit hall, ballrooms, meeting rooms and pre-function space, is targeted for completion in spring 2013.
