The Cure Added To Vivid Live

The Cure was added to this month’s Vivid Live program at Sydney Opera House in Australia, doing a show with a twist.

Leader Robert Smith has assembled a lineup of past and present members to perform the first three Cure albums – Three Imaginary Boys (1979), Seventeen Seconds (1980) and Faith (1981) – in their entirety.

Of the May 31 and June 1 performances, Smith explained, “We have played a lot of memorable shows in Australia – we first performed here in 1980, and this will be our seventh trip – but it will be our first time onstage in the Sydney Opera House, and we want to do something unique to mark the occasion.

“Combining Cure members past and present in a live filmed interpretation of our first three albums feels to me like it should do the trick!” Smith said in a statement.

Vivid Live event is curated by Modular Touring head Stephen Pavlovic.

Past curators included Brian Eno and a team-up of Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed.

Also on the program May 27 to June 5 are Cut Copy, Bat For Lashes, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Sonny Rollins and more.
