Stageco Opens In UK

Stageco and Tait Technologies celebrated the launch of their new strategic alliance by throwing a party at their London HQ May 20.

Directors and staff were joined by guests from the UK and European event production business at their 1,265-square-foot building in Kings Cross, which is now officially open for business.

Stageco international project manager Dirk de Decker, who will head his company’s UK business, said the main benefit of the new London office is that “we are committing ourselves to be more easily available to the UK music and event industries.”

Even without a London office, Stageco has taken on UK work including the Take That tour, the Hyde Park concerts and the Brit Awards. It also worked on last year’s Download Festival, bringing in a stage especially for the use of Friday-night headliners AC/DC.

The alliance with Tait comes after the two companies have spent decades of working independently alongside each other across an array of touring projects, which led to discussions between Michael Tait and Stageco chief Hedwig de Meyer about establishing an even closer cooperation.

This has already led to a strategic alliance that’s seen the U.S.-based Tait Towers scenic motion products become available through Stageco’s existing network of staging offices, which includes bases in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria and the U.S.
Both companies are recruiting new staff to expand their UK-based teams.

The London office will offer production meeting facilities, available for industry colleagues to use with minimal disruption during European travel.
