Clarence Clemons Update

So far, very little word has emerged via official sources regarding Clarence Clemons following the E Street Band saxophonist suffering a stroke over the weekend. However, there is news via unofficial channels.

Unofficial as in Backstreets, the perennial Bruce Springsteen newsmagazine that’s been following The Boss since 1980. Citing “independent sources,” Backstreets reports that Clemons has undergone two brain surgeries in a Florida hospital.

A bit more optimistic is today’s posting on Backstreets indicating the Big Man’s condition has improved during the past 24 hours. Citing a “close friend,” Backstreets says Clemons’ vital signs “are improving” and that he’s responsive.

“His eyes are welling up when we’re talking to him,” the source told Backstreets. “He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he’s squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we’ve heard since [the stroke] happened – it’s nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he’s a fighter.”
