Clint Black Lawsuit Returns

The Tennessee Court of Appeals has revived a lawsuit Clint Black filed against his former business manager and others.

The court determined the 2008 suit should not have been dismissed on technical reasons by Davidson County Chancery Court Judge Carol McCoy, according to the Tennessean.

Black reportedly sued Charles Sussman for breach of fiduciary duty, accounting malpractice, breach of contract and other claims. The filing came a month after Equity Records – which was founded by Black, Sussman and two others – folded for financial reasons.

Black fired Sussman, Equity’s chief financial officer, in 2007 after learning that the label had not formed a contract with its biggest client, Little Big Town, for more than a year, the Tennessean said. The lawsuit also claims Sussman advised Black to pump millions into the label, which paid Sussman $10,000 a month.
