Rob Zombie’s Latest Film Project

Fans of Rob Zombie already know the rocker is also a film director, having helmed celluloid shockers such as “The Devil’s Rejects,” “House Of 1,000 Corpses” and 2007’s “Halloween.” Now he’s come up with his scariest project yet – a laundry detergent commercial.

Zombie recently directed a commercial for Woolite that depicts a masked character dragging a bag across a rural landscape to an abandoned farmhouse where he then proceeds to brutalize articles of clothing until the sentence “Don’t let detergents torture your clothes” appears on the screen.

The commercial had its origins in research focus groups where participants described the effects laundry detergents had on their clothes as “torture,” according to The New York Times.

Regarding the identity of the character depicted in the commercial, Zombie described him as someone like “Uncle Fester” from “The Addams Family” and not “like some child killer out in the woods.”

Zombie also told the Times he made the commercial “more like a Tim Burton” film than anything resembling his usual horror film output. Even so, the newspaper reports there are two versions – one for television and a slightly darker version for Facebook.
