Glen Campbell Has Alzheimer’s

Country star Glen Campbell is planning a farewell tour and final album in the wake of his announcement June 22 that he has Alzheimer’s Disease.

Campbell, 75, and his wife, Kim, told People he was diagnosed about six months ago but has been experiencing short-term memory loss for a few years.

“Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer,” Kim told the magazine. “But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?’”

Campbell’s album, Ghost on the Canvas, is scheduled for release Aug. 30.

“I still love making music,” the Grammy-winner told People. “And I still love performing for my fans. I’d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin.”
