The Recording Academy also announced that the 54th Annual Grammy Awards takes place Feb. 12 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The new 10-year deal with CBS keeping the annual awards program on the television network through 2021. The Grammy Awards have aired on CBS since 1973.

Along with the actual Grammys telecast, the agreement assures that “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” will continue with CBS. The next “Grammy Nominations Concert” airs Nov. 30 on the network.

Dissed by some music fans as being irrelevant and/or merely a reflection of sales instead of talent, The Grammy Awards is one of the most highly rated awards shows on television, pulling in 26.7 million viewers in 2011. CBS Research estimated more than 61 million viewers watched all or part of this year’s broadcast.
